Two high-speed trains have helped to improve transport accessibility of a new area.
Two high-speed trains linking Beijin and Xiongan New Area have carried over 480 thousand passengers since the service started July 2017. Of these, 78 thousand passengers were transported during the 40-day special transportation schedule set up on the occasion of the Spring Festival which ended in mid-March.
The trains run between the capital and Baoding City in Hebei Province making stops in Baigou and Baiyangdian, both in Xiongan New Area.
On April 1, 2017, the central government of PRC announced the decision to establish the area, which is the country's third new area of national significance after the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Shanghai Pudong New Area.
Recall that a new rail link between Beijing and Xiongan is under construction and is expected to be operational by the end of 2020. It will reduce travel time between Beijing and Xiongan to 30 minutes. The speed of trains from Liying Station to New Airport will be 250km/h; and the speed of trains from New Airport to Xiongan New Area will be 350km/h.
