On April 27, 2018, M.E. Priezzhev, Chief Project Engineer of the complex, and S.I. Ivanov-Tolmachev, Deputy Chief Project Engineer, visited the Russian Transport University where a round table was held. The round table devoted to “Simulation of the Central Moscow Diameters long-term development scheme” was attended by the representatives of RUT (MIIT), NRU HSE, the Union of Railroad Builders, the Moscow Master Plan Institute and other research and design organizations. The session was opened by the director of the Institute of Transport Economics and Transport Policy of the Higher School of Economics Mikhail Blinkin.

Director of the Digital High-Speed Transport Systems Center of RUT (MIIT) O.N. Pokusaev delivered report regarding “Target scheme of Moscow Central Diameters”. Today, CDHSTS simulates the route plan of Moscow Central Diameters based on certain constraints. In particular: the route must be technically implemented (the infrastructure must be adapted to such route or this adaptation should be technically possible), the route must be in demand (for this purpose, the passenger flows were simulated). The first stage of the launch of Moscow Central Diameters involves the functioning of two routes (Odintsovo - Lobnya and Nakhabino - Podolsk), which are currently highly available. Moreover, a vision of RUT (MIIT) regarding the target route plan for Moscow Central Diameters was presented. However, the plan is not officially adopted at the current stage and will be further considered in more detail.

Deputy Director of the Digital High-Speed Transport Systems Center of RUT (MIIT) A. E. Chekmarev described the organization of traffic on the routes of Moscow Central Diameters at different stages of its implementation (including organization of mixed traffic of trains of different categories and allocation of trains for Moscow Central Diameters and other categories of trains on different types of tracks). He underlined the need for infrastructure interventions in the track development of stations and hauls, namely the need for the construction of overpasses in order to connect Kiev and Yaroslavl directions to the main Moscow Central Diameters network as well as the overpass for the transfer of long-distance trains from Kursksy Terminal to Paveletsky Terminal.

A. S. Morozov, Director for transport planning and forecasting of “Infrastructure Economics Center” described the simulation of passenger flows in the target scheme of Moscow Central Diameters. The method of passenger traffic simulation is based on data on validation of tickets for all types of urban and suburban passenger transport. A. S. Morozov elaborated on the practice of collecting and aggregating data, demonstrated the operation of TransCAD software which was used to simulate passenger flows, and presented the results of simulation of the target route network of Moscow Central Diameters.

From a technological perspective, the possibility of launching a target network of Moscow Central Diameters, taking into account the movement of trains of various types, can be assessed by virtue of simulation of the most loaded sections and stations. Basic principles and tasks of simulating operation of Moscow-Passazhirskaya Kurskaya station and adjacent hauls taking into account projects of HSR and Moscow Central Diameters were highlighted by Osokin O. V., Deputy General Director of "Transport algorithm".

During the discussion, the roundtable participants (representatives of State Autonomous Institution "Institute of Moscow General Plan", NRU HSE, Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosova, JSC "High-Speed Rail Lines and other organizations) noted the importance of a comprehensive review of the Moscow Central Diameters project, including the review by the scientific community, and thanked the heads of the Russian Transport University for organizing the round table.
