The President of Siemens Russia and Central Asia Dietrich Meller confirmed the amount of the potential investment of “German initiative” consortium for construction of the “Moscow-Kazan” high-speed railway (HSR).
Yesterday, on February 11, 2015 the meeting of the President of JSC “Russian Railways” Oleg Beloerov with the representatives of Association of European Businesses (AEB) took place. During the meeting “German initiative” consortium represented by Dietrich Meller confirmed the intention to invest €2bn in the construction of the “Moscow-Kazan” high-speed railway. “We are not going to reduce the amount of investment. We are working actively and we know that the Chinese side is working as well - I believe that the triangular partnership will become the effective solution because such giant project requires not only the efforts of Russia and China but also the efforts of other partners.
“Our offer to provide financing for the HSR construction remains. But we understand that the volatility of the ruble poses credit risks that is why it is necessary to find a solution acceptable to all parties” he added.
