“Moscow-Kazan” HSR project included in the development program of mainline infrastructure

In an interview to RIA Novosti during the Eastern economic forum, Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov noted that the project of the Moscow — Kazan High-Speed Rail Line has been included in the development program of the mainline infrastructure and it is worthy of investment provided by the “Belousov’s initiative”.

"We have included the project in the development program of the main infrastructure. The decision to keep or excluded this project from the program is up to the Prime Minister and the President. Yes, this is a huge expense, but at the same time this is a major progress the infrastructure development. This is a completely new technological quality of the railway industry. It needs entirely different stuff: rails, energy supply, traction systems and metals, and even the specialists and computers controlling this train. This is a huge technological progress," said Akimov.

He also said that this project is worthy of being invested by the companies from the "Belousov’s list".

"Colleagues are now reflecting on where investments should be channeled to in accordance with the list of Andrey Removich and I think this project is worthy of investment, and it needs to be in this list," he said.
