"Today the selected route of the rail line is still being analyzed and the territory is being studied in order to make sure that there are no unexplored communications and the interests of the population are taken into account as far as possible. It is still unclear what kind of passage will be used: bridge or tunnel. This will be determined in November 2019. The preliminary cost of the project is 540 billion rubles. The construction is scheduled to begin in 2021," RIA "Novosti" presents a message of the Ministry.
The construction of the passage requires adjustment of the second stage of the Baikal-Amur mainline (BAM) reconstruction, the load on which will increase. It is also necessary to provide a new railway line with electricity and to build a high-voltage power line with the integration of isolated power systems of Sakhalin and Nikolaevsk-on-Amur.
As reported by EADaily in September this year, the Ministry of Transport had introduced a high-speed rail line Moscow-Gorokhovets (section of the Moscow-Kazan HSR) and a bridge to Sakhalin with a cargo port on the island into the National Project of integrated development of the main infrastructure of the Russian Federation until 2024.
They have been offered to the companies from "Belousov's list" for co-financing.
