Alexander Skokan: "an architectural work is not created at drawing desks or on computer screens - it has been already existed without us and before us. Architects are the first who see, distinguish and recognize it."
The meeting was opened by academician of the International Academy of Architecture, Head of "Ostozhenka" Architectural Bureau, Alexander Skokan.
Alexander told what architecture means to him. He told about his creative path from a student to the Head of the Architectural Bureau. Young professionals were very interested to learn about the famous architects who were his teachers, about Moscow during 70-80ss of the 20th century, about the work in "State Unitary Enterprise “Genplan Institute of Moscow" and about bold non-standard architectural solutions.
During the meeting, an interesting aspect of the profession regarding the friendship with artists was mentioned! Skokan emphasized artists’ unique view, a different perspective to the world, which is able to refresh the project of any architect with new colors.
Alexander touched on a vital issue for urban development in Russia which concerns the withering of the profession of architect in Russia: customers dictate their rules and do not give Russian architects a chance to develop individual projects. But, at the same time, they ask foreign urban planners to create a unique architecture, attracting domestic experts only to finalize new projects.
Young specialists of JSC Mosgiprotrans hope that such situation in Russia will change in the near future and our talented architects will create a cutting-edge space not only in our country but in the whole world, as well.
