"We consider this project as the most important stage in the creation of the Moscow - Beijing high-speed corridor ", the President of JSC "Russian Railways", Oleg Belozerov said during the meeting with a delegation from China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) headed by the Board Chairman Li Changjin, which took place on May 27 in Moscow. "Furthermore, we consider it as the infrastructure basis for the Eurasian economic integration, for the development of the Silk Road Economic Belt". This information was stated in the press center of JSC “Russian Railways”.
The subject of the meeting of the heads of two largest railway companies was the participation of China Railway Engineering Corporation in the implementation of the Moscow - Kazan HSR project. The President of Russian Railways announced that engineering surveys for preparation of the project documentation should be completed in June 2016. The Board Chairman of CREC Li Changjin assured that Chinese specialists will make every effort to perform work in time. Moreover, the Chinese delegation expressed its interest in participating in other future projects for building railways in Russia.
It is to be recalled that China will provide a RUB 400 billion loan for Russia’s Moscow–Kazan high-speed rail line construction project. The Chinese party also will provide equity financing for the project on the Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod line section amounting to the equivalent of 52 billion roubles in US dollars, as well as an additional amount of US 1 billion for the Nizhny Novgorod – Kazan line section.
